New Insights on Risk-Informed Performance-Based Approaches to Technology-Neutral Regulatory Framework for Generation IV Reactors

چکیده
The current regulations for nuclear power plants focus on light water reactors (LWRs), and as such they may not be properly applied to non-LWR reactors such as Generation IV Reactors. For instance, there is no plant state comparable to core damage in pebble bed reactors [1]. As a result, the surrogate safety goal based on core-damage frequency (CDF), as being applied to LWRs in many countries directly or indirectly, needs to be somehow modified for such advanced plants. Therefore, there are considerable interests worldwide in developing new licensing structure for advanced nuclear power plants. In this paper, we briefly discuss the new licensing approaches developed by the NRC and suggested by PBMR, Pty. LTD focusing on the two topical areas mentioned above. Next, our insights are given with respect to these approaches along with our suggestions for future research.

Licensing and Deployment of Advanced Reactors
The deployment of advanced reactors of the type proposed for Generation IV will require a new strategy for licensing and demonstration. One of the requirements for NRC certification is that for technologies, for which there is not a regulatory history or an experience base, demonstration plants are a requirement. The current regulatory process as codified 10 CFR Parts 50, 51 and 52 has to be me...

Events with low probability and high impact, which annually cause high damages, seriously threaten the health of the distribution networks. Hence, more attention to the issue of enhancing network resilience and continuity of power supply, feels more than ever, all over the world. In modern distribution networks, because of the increasing presence of distributed generation resources, an alternat...
متن کاملA New Non-linear Control of the Four-Leg Inverter with Decoupled Model and Fast Dynamic Response for PV Generation Systems
Distributed generation (DG) will play an important role in future power generation systems, especially in stand-alone applications. Three phase four-leg inverter is a well-known topology which can be used as an interface power converter for DGs. Thanks to the fourth leg to provide the neutral path, the four-leg inverter is able to supply balanced loads as well as unbalanced loads. In this paper...
